Autobiography

When I was a young child I had a strong desire to be a mother. As I became older it turned more in to caring for young children. Since I was a teenager I have been building my career in Early Childhood Education & Development. I started caring for children as a job in high school. My sophomore summer I cared for a 2-year-old boy and 6-month-old girl. We would spend the day at the beach in New Hampshire, or the playground, library or any fun place we could find. Every summer since I had my license I was caring for small children. As I entered college I found that studying Early Childhood Development was of my largest interest.

Turning 19, I applied for nanny positions in Jackson Hole, WY where I was accepted as a full-time, live-in nanny for 3 week old triplets and a 2-year- old. This job helped me become more aware of the importance of a routine and scheduling so that the days stayed calm and I stayed sane. I have since had two full-time, live-in positions caring for 3 children (starting at 5 year old, 3 year old & 3 months old), and 2 children (starting at 2 & 3 years old.)

I will never forget getting on a bus with two young girls in Chamonix, France. My backpack filled with snacks, extra gear, and water with 3 pairs of skies hanging off the back. I was carrying one child while helping the other one on. We would stay at the ski slopes for hours until alas, it was nap time. The times spent playing airplane on the stairs or playing in the sandbox out back are the little times that spark children’s imaginations and I loved being a part of it. I have had years of hands on experience while also studying the different stages of development. I have been the “second mother” to many young children and continue our relationships through today.

I moved to Bozeman in August of 2014 to marry my prince in shining armor. We had met in Jackson where I was running a small business called, Extra Hands. He had moved to Bozeman to start an optics company earlier that year called, Revibro. I have since been finding my place in child care and have found the need to start my own small family center. Which is how By Grace Academy was formed. God has given me the gift of caring & nurturing young children and I hope this will shine upon my purpose in life.
